Buddha Bowls – Port Credit, Mississauga Salad Bowl Restaurant
I first heard about Buddha Bowls from the post insauga.com featured on their food blog. I was so excited to see a new place I could eat! The photo used on the blog post featured hearty looking warm salad bowls perfect for fall and winter. Sadly, the photos featured on the blog were not what was found when we visited Buddha Bowls last month.
The bowls are a ‘make-your-own’ type of dish which I enjoy because you get what you want without having to substitute one ingredient for another. I chose the shrimp since it was the only safe protein option for me (besides the beluga lentils) and the least spicy – Massaman Curry. This was my first time trying curry and I was pleasantly surprised. There was hints of subtle spice with just enough kick. Next was to pick the vegetables – the consensus from us was the veggies weren’t cooked enough and some were left raw. It would have been nice to have warm veggies to go with the rest of our warm bowl.
Overall it was a satisfying experience trying my first curry and a new place to eat. While Buddha Bowls is not an entirely gluten free kitchen the owner/staff seemed knowledgeable and accommodating for myself and my vegan sister-in-law. I was happy that all the curry’s were made dairy free with coconut milk.
You can visit Buddha Bowls website for more information and their menu.
